Leadership, management and employee health and wellbeing
Here are some examples of my writing and speaking engagements from the initial phase of my career as an Occupational Psychologist, when my focus was on leadership, management and employee health and wellbeing.
Preventing Stress in Organizations: How to Develop Positive Managers
This is an evidence based book on the key role that leaders/managers play in employee health and wellbeing. Co-written with Rachel Lewis and Jo Yarker, it sets out the specific manager behaviours that our research indicated are important for preventing stress in employees. It won the British Psychological Society Book Award in 2013.
Book chapters, research reports and articles about leadership, management and employee health and wellbeing
I have written a large number of book chapters, research reports and articles (peer-reviewed and professional journals) about aspects of leadership/management linked to employee health and wellbeing. This includes a series of research reports for the Health and Safety Executive and the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development on management competencies for preventing and reducing stress at work.
Speaking engagements about leadership, management and employee health and wellbeing
Between 2002 and 2020, I spoke about about leadership, management and employee health and wellbeing at over 150 different conferences, seminars, workshops events, from peer-reviewed international conferences, to keynotes and invited speaker slots, to professional body events and round-tables.
